For many, Paxos represents the epitome of relaxed island life, a place to linger over lunch, exchange a friendly kalimera with the locals and idle away happy hours. The Harbour House suite, located in the heart of Gaios, is just the place for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in village life. There’s always plenty to see here, from fishermen landing their daily catch to flotilla boats arriving for dinner at one of the many waterfront tavernas. There is a small delightful courtyard garden to the rear and a raised roof terrace that is perfect for your morning coffee with perhaps a croissant from the village bakery that is literally footsteps from the front door.
One of the greatest pleasures of Paxos is hiring a small boat, and The Harbour House is particularly well placed for this as you can moor very close to your suite. From here you can potter along the east coast of Paxos, where many of the beaches are virtually deserted during the spring and autumn months and pull up for a picnic at one of the secluded coves. If you prefer to let someone else take the helm, Gaios is the main (though nonetheless small!) harbour on the island, so you can easily catch the local ferry across to the pristine white beaches of Anti Paxos for lunch in just 20 minutes.
The suite occupies the upper floor of the building, made up of a spacious, open-plan bedroom/living area and a separate kitchen, though with tavernas close by and a coffee bar just next door, you may find you don’t use the kitchen for anything more than your morning cuppa or ice for your G&T. However you choose to spend your days, The Harbour House suite is a comfortable and convenient base to return to, though those looking for an early night might prefer somewhere away from the lively buzz of neighbouring bars and tavernas, especially during high season.
To explore the rest of this magical island there is a regular bus service, car hire or even take one of the six island taxis.

First time using Simpson Travel and will definitely not be our last - everything was just perfect from start to finish. Cannot recommend this company highly enough. Incredibly high standards and beautiful properties in the most gorgeous places.
What a fantastic house. Very well equipped and decorated and in perfect position.
A delightful villa in a perfect harbour location on the most beautiful of islands. Lovely walks to Mongonissi, to Tripitos Arch and on Anti Paxos. Superb rooftop views of the harbour life and a range of excellent restaurants from which to choose. Perfect. We will be back.
Harbour House was an excellent venue and very close to restaurants and bars. The hostess 'Maroula' was outstanding and could not have been nicer or more helpful.
This is our 2nd visit to Paxos and our first visit to the Harbour House. We choose the accommodation based on its location to Gaios, we wanted somewhere more central we could walk to for dinner of an evening. This was perfect. The attention to detail at Harbour House was on point, we met the owner and she was very attentive. We love the ease of using Simpson Travel, our aim next year to to fly from somewhere more local to us and spend a few additional days in Corfu and explore further! We had everything we needed and will definitely be back.
Fabulous location on the waterfront with a friendly bar next door. Great views from the rooftop terrace.
Beautifully appointed Harbour House provided the perfect location for our first visit to Paxos, with the added pleasure of meeting Maroula the owner and her family.
Finally got here after 2 years of cancellations, and it didn't disappoint. The Harbour House has everything you need right on its doorstep and we have had a wonderful 2 weeks ignoring the greater world at large.
This was our holiday of a lifetime - a long time coming (Pandemic) but didn't disappoint on any level. The Harbour House had it all with everything you could possibly need and more. The owner was very accommodating. The position in Paxos was incredible!
We fell in love with Harbour House on sight and booked for next year within 10 minutes of being here! Thank you for the peace and tranquillity.
Great week at The Harbour House – plenty to watch from the fabulous roof terrace and all you could need was provided. Our second time to Paxos and recommend all the usual things – trip to Anti Paxos, bus to Loggos and Lakka. Lots of walking to do – easy flat road walk to Mogonissi, great lunch at Carnayo Gold and then a cooling swim. This wonderful place really does have the best waterfront views in Gaios – you won’t be disappointed.
Harbour House enjoys an amazing position on the harbour front in Gaios. The best location with amazing views from the fabulous roof terrace. Perfect place to stay.
So lovely to be back at The Harbour House – it never disappoints. It’s like coming back home. We just love it here – so welcoming and comfortable. The best view in Gaios and wonderful choices of restaurants and shops. It really could not be a better location for a week’s holiday. Always lovely having a good old catch-up with Marilla – she is great. Paxos holds a very special place in our hearts and I know we will return year after year!
Our first time in Paxos but not our last! Enjoy this wonderful island and its people. The Harbour House is an ideal location for exploring the town and the surrounding area.
From Harbour House with its hustle and bustle in Gaios to this Secret Garden was a move to absolute silence. From people watching to lizard watching. From the sound of yachts coming and going to the buzzing of bees along the borders. How do they build those walls? This is a place for complete refreshment and David and Steph were helpful in many ways.
Back again – it’s called the ‘Paxos Bug’ and it really grabs you! We hope to visit this lovely island again.
The week has been peaceful but there is much to watch – yachts, gin palaces, day boats, people, cats and a few dogs as well. Marula is a great help.
The Harbour House is a real find. Comfortable, tastefully decorated, and with everything you could need, we loved it. To have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the harbour was a real treat. The garden with its lime tree and barbecue was a delight. Marula, the owner, was a charming host, helpful but not intrusive. Thank you, Simpson Travel, for another great holiday.
It was a privilege to be the first guests to stay at Harbour House, a lovely apartment right on the waterfront in Gaios. There is a great roof terrace and courtyard garden. You should expect some noise from the boats and bars, but enjoy being in the heart of things. Another great holiday with Simpson Travel.
Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide. We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

Barely eight miles from tip to tail, Paxos is pint-sized perfection. The only way to get here is by boat from Corfu, which rules out mass development and makes room for a true luxury villa holiday experience. Beloved by the boating crowd, there's a definite buzz in the main summer months and an excellent choice of restaurants that cater for visiting flotilla.
There are few better ways of relaxing than on a luxury holiday in Paxos, where days fill up beautifully with sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and dining in style, the sea just metres from your table. Amble through ancient olive groves and you’ll catch glimpses of startlingly turquoise bays, the dramatic west-coast cliffs or the Epiros Mountains. In spring, there’s also a haze of purple honesty, wild irises and lilies and a sky that’s alive with birdlife, from hawks to skylarks.
Complete the picture with a stay in one of our handpicked luxury villas or our unique Adult Only Simpson Hotels and make the most of this peaceful island.
