For those who are familiar with our ever-popular Kalkan Regency Hotel, the owners of this pretty, two-bedroom cottage near the village of Üzümlü need no introduction. And within walking distance of the farm that produces many of the mouth-watering ingredients for their celebrated restaurant, the family’s farmhouse holds a charm and appeal all of its own.
Tucked away in the idyllic countryside that borders the turquoise coast, guests can enjoy an authentic taste of Turkish rural living and the perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life, yet still only a short drive from the glitz and glamour of Kalkan.
In-keeping with its timeless surroundings, this enchanting stone house is simply furnished in traditional style, well-equipped and comfortable, with a country style kitchen perfect for those who are looking to try their hand at Turkish cuisine. The Tomanbay family are more than happy for guests to visit the farm and indulge in the homespun pleasure of picking their own vegetables for supper and you’ll find a menagerie of animals, always keen to say hello and a sure-fire hit with younger members of the family.
Outside, The Regency Cottage has everything you need to shrug off the vagaries of daily life, lie back and unwind. A beautiful stone terrace with covered dining area and free-form pool has been designed with the views in mind, and it’s a magical spot to gaze out across the fertile landscape towards the sea and watch the sky transform from blue to gold in early evening. Read a book, raise a glass, and be seduced by the gentle soundscape of the Turkish countryside, or head into sleepy Üzümlü where you’ll find some lovely, unfussy restaurants serving a surprisingly good choice of local dishes, including the renowned Turkish pizza – Pide.
When a touch more sophistication is called for, the bright lights of Kalkan are not too far away and for those who like to mix their relaxation with a little indulgence, you can hire a taxi and be sitting in one of the stylish roof top restaurants in less than twenty minutes.

We really enjoyed our stay at Regency Cottage. Zeze our Concierge was extremely helpful, friendly and supported our every need from booking a restaurant to advising where we could buy cows milk.
We loved staying at The Regency Cottage! Zeze was extremely helpful in giving recommendations of where to eat and visit. She also reserved a couple of events which were very enjoyable and spot on for what we wanted to experience in the Kalkan area. The whole experience was extremely restful. The cottage was clean and traditional and a lot of thought and care had gone into the setting up of the holiday cottage. A very little note to Zeze - we couldn't find a pen so couldn't leave a review at the cottage and would definitely have done so if we had a pen. Perhaps the previous guests had taken it? Thank you once again for giving us a wonderful holiday!
A stay at the Regency Cottage is the ultimate 'get away from it all' holiday. Experience Turkish village life - though it's hard to drag yourself away from the pool terrace with its wonderful sunset views. The cottage itself is comfortable and well equipped, and the help and information from concierge Zeze is invaluable. A day at sea on the gulet 'Posiedon' adds to your enjoyment, as does the opportunity to pick a fresh tomato or pomegranate from the owners' farm next door. A great holiday - so good we've enjoyed it twice!
Our first holiday with Simpson Travel. Very impressed with overall experience & will definitely be booking with them again. Excellent villa - beautiful views, peaceful setting. Great pool & outdoor area. Very well equipped. Only 1 bathroom so probably best suited to a couple, family or close friends. Concierge service provided by Zeze first class. Very knowledgeable & happy to book restaurants and provide useful tips. Enjoyed making use of Indigo Beach Club and also complimentary hamam at Regency Hotel. Do consider opting for more powerful car due to villa's location in the hills. We did & really appreciated the extra power and automatic transmission to get round the steep bends.
Regency cottage was everything we hoped it would be, excellent outdoor facilities and inside was everything we needed. Zeze made the week for us, advising on the best local supermarket to ensuring tables were booked in restaurants in Kalkan to introducing us to the best taxi driver who knew where the cottage was! Kalkan was very busy, peak season, and the old town is beautiful, we were happy to stay in the villa and go to the butchers for bbq food & drinks, only 5-10mins in the car, when we wanted a more relaxing day. The roads up to the villa give beautiful views but if you want to go exploring definitely upgrade the engine size of the hire car, This was our first time using Simpson & have already recommended them to many friends…will be using them again for sure.
We had a truly relaxing stay at Regency Cottage. For us it was an ideal location away from busy Kalkan and up high enough to enjoy a light breeze which was needed in the heat. The views are just lovely and the cottage very well equipped. We had a barbecue, used the kitchen and ate out enjoying the flexibility of a villa stay. Our concierge Zeze was so friendly and helpful - she booked our Hamam and Poseidon Sunset Cruise both of which were highlights for us. The car rental service that Simpsons arrange at the airport is so convenient, the only issue we had was the car we had wasn't really powerful enough to cope well with the hills around the cottage. Next time we would upgrade to a more powerful car. Overall we had a fabulous stay and would recommend both Regency Cottage and Simpson Travel.
The service from the concierge was excellent. The peaceful location of the cottage suited us perfectly. The traditional-style cottage was lovely and had all the facilities we needed for a thoroughly relaxing holiday. The Poseidon trip - which we also enjoyed last year - was a highlight.
Beautiful villa in an amazing location. Secluded, sun-drenched and enough shade for lunch. Superb touches too, including the complimentary Hammam, the boat trip and use of the Indigo Beach Club. Plus, a surprise bottle of wine for our anniversary from Zeze our concierge :) First time with Simpson Travel and very happy we found them. Seamless experience from start to finish. Graham Simpson and Yianna, you've created a gem and retained a very personal feel with nothing being too much trouble from all staff members. We will be booking again in the future.
The cottage has been a wonderful place to rest, relax and relish and a much-needed pause from all the busyness of life. Zeze couldn’t have been more helpful and assured all our evening dinners were both delicious and stress-free. Our hammam, morning swims at the beach, daily trips and treats from the bakery, sampling every Turkish dish that tempted our tastebuds, and of course lazy days by the pool have been delights. Now all we need to decide is where to go next!
After arriving I felt we were too far from Kalkan – wrong! The cottage is perfect, near enough for the bright lights of Kalkan, but once back, relax and enjoy. Zeze, this lady is amazing – she makes the holiday go from good to amazing. Don’t want to leave!
Zeze Is the most amazing lady and made our holiday by recommending and sorting things out. She goes beyond what anyone should need. Make sure you look after her, she’s worth it and makes the holiday experience magical. Regency Cottage was further away from Kalkan than we imagined but its beautiful and peaceful location needs to be enjoyed.

The Regency Cottage was perfect for us as we like to be away from the hustle & bustle. The kitchen was one of the best equipped in any place we have stayed. The family who look after the cottage were lovely, showing us around the farm & gave us some of their amazing produce. Zeze the concierge was, as ever, so helpful & her knowledge of the area is invaluable. It was the most relaxing 2 weeks & exactly what we needed.
What a magical place! We have had the most relaxing 2 weeks here and really don't want to leave. The cottage has everything you could possibly need and possibly the best equipped kitchen anywhere we've stayed. Ali and family are lovely and so kind showing us round the farm, the organic produce, the animals and letting us feed the baby goat. Zeze has as always been there whenever we've needed her and it was so lovely to see her again, her knowledge of the area is invaluable.
We have LOVED this villa, a real home from home. Such a fabulous location (though tricky to find initially!) and so pretty. The peace and quiet has been so relaxing, but we have also enjoyed time at the Regency hotel - the best of both worlds really.

Regency Cottage is an absolute oasis of peace set on a farm in the mountains within 15 minutes reach of Kalkan. I don’t think we have ever been so lazy! Floating in the pool, reading, thinking about what to cook for supper, having a g&t watching the sunset over views of farmland and mountains, sleeping soundly - perfect. The cottage is well-equipped and we were incredibly looked after by Ali and Nazife on site, and by the AMAZING Zeze (concierge) via WhatsApp and phone. Thank you for sending us home so refreshed!
Once again lovely location, the sun sets were beautiful, villa very well equipped, spotless and so quiet. Instructions from airport to villa were excellent, on arrival at cottage was met by Nuri and Ali and made to feel very welcome, we were told to help ourselves to what ever we liked from the green house and herb patch ,which we did so fresh, all in all a lovely holiday. Also thanks to Zeze for her kindness and knowledge of the area, nothing is to much trouble.

A pretty mountain village just above Kalkan Bay, Islamlar is a place of bucolic tranquillity and rustic architecture set against the dramatic backdrop of the Taurus Mountains. In the heart of Islamlar you will still find a truly traditional way of life, unchanged throughout the centuries: an old tea house, a bakery where flour is still ground by millstones and shepherds herding their sheep among the olive trees.
Nearby is Islamlar’s even sleepier neighbour, Üzümlü. This traditional village is wonderfully unspoilt – a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the every-day comings and goings of rural Turkey.
But should you wish to experience a more cosmopolitan expression of Turkish hospitality, Kalkan with its beach clubs, vibrant waterfront bars and rooftop restaurants, is just a short drive away, giving you the best of all worlds.
