Supporting Together for Short Lives

Together for Short Lives is a UK-wide charity which, together with its members, speaks out for all children and young people who are expected to have short lives. Working alongside everyone who provides care and support to these children and families, the charity is there to help them have as fulfilling lives as possible and the very best care at the end of life. Inspired by their mission and caring professionalism, Simpson Travel chose Together for Short Lives as its charity partner in 2014. We currently donate £2 for every completed holiday questionnaire that our guests return to us, which has now raised almost £10,000.
Support and advocacy
Hearing the news that your child has a life-limiting condition and is likely to die young is completely devastating. For tens of thousands of families in the UK this is the reality. These children have very complex and unpredictable conditions and often need round-the-clock care, seven days a week. Together for Short Lives is there for every one of these children and their families, being a companion to parents on their journey so they know where to go for support and have the information to help them make the right choices about their child’s care. The charity helps children and their families access specialist children’s palliative care and other essential support services. Together for Short Lives provides a helpline which provides information, signposting and support for parents and carers who look after a child or young person who is expected to have a short life. It also has an advocacy service to match families with legally trained advocates to act on their behalf and assist them with specific problems they may be facing.
