The rugged interior of north east Zakynthos is magnificently unspoilt, so we are extra pleased to have found this wonderful, secluded villa near Volimes. It’s a charming and peaceful location, surrounded by olive trees and landscaped gardens, yet just a seven-minute drive from the coast. Approaching along the private drive you get a sense of slipping back in time, and with good reason; the villa’s guest cottage originally belonged to the owner’s grandparents and the olive grove around the main house dates back even further. Solid stone walls, beamed ceilings and arched picture windows all speak to a respect for architectural tradition, polished up to welcome 21st C guests looking for both authenticity and comfort.

In addition to the main, two-bedroom house, there’s a detached guest cottage with its own bedroom, shower room and living area, making this a really practical layout for two couples or a multi-generation party looking for a little extra privacy. The outside space is equally well designed, with lots of natural shade from the trees, plenty of seating and dining space and outdoor lighting which makes the garden even more magical at night. You can barbecue right here, enjoying the sounds of nature and the luxury of seclusion, or for a change of scene you’ll find beaches, boat hire and a choice of excellent local tavernas all within a 10 to 15-minute drive.

Villa Sigalia is a wonderful, much loved, sensitively restored and well equipped property. The spacious annex adds extra privacy. The owners are caring, friendly, unobtrusive hosts who could not be more helpful. The grounds contain beautiful old olive trees and are relatively extensive with up to six separate seating areas including a bbq area. The pool is medium sized and more than sufficient. It adds up to an excellent, peaceful and tranquil place to stay that is hard to leave. Nicely situated at the quiet North end of the island but close enough to restaurants, shops and beaches to make it an all round excellent place to stay.

Mr Michael Ball, September 2024

We had an amazing week at Villa Sigalia - it was absolutely beautiful! Our hosts met us on arrival and provided all the information we could have asked for. The villa is their family home and this became apparent as we discovered all of the outoor areas around the villa and pool, each of which features beautiful fabrics and furnishings, not mention the pots of herbs and flowers growing in abundance around the garden. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and the lounge area was very comfortable. The sea views from the first floor balconies are also an added bonus. Stunning beaches and high quality restaurants are within a 5-10 minute drive too. An absolutely amazing experience all in all!

Mrs Rebecca Collinge, July 2024

We had a really excellent 3 weeks at Villa Sigalia. What a find for Simpsons! The owners are so welcoming and friendly, they looked after us incredibly well whilst alway respecting our privacy. A lovely holiday.

Mrs Susan Pyper, June 2024

Really great time at the villa. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful and approachable. Nothing was too much trouble, very kind people. Would definitely return and recommend.

Sue, Rick & Linda, May 2024

Sigalia is probably one of the best - if not the best- villas that we have stayed in during our many years with Simpson Travel. It meets every requirement in full that we ask for when booking holidays: the privacy, space and shade in the lovely garden is just outstanding, the villa is equipped with everything we need and added to that our hosts Anna and Antonis are second to none.

Simpson Traveller, May 2024

Our choice of Greek properties is as diverse as the islands themselves, ranging from simple seaside charm to genuine luxury and style. Much of our portfolio is privately owned, and price alone is therefore not a universal guide.

We contract all our accommodation in person, and each property has its individual appeal. To help you make the right choice based on your own priorities, we have devised a simple grading guide to be considered in conjunction with each individual property description, awarding up to a maximum of five stars for the below categories.

Edgar Allen Poe described Zakynthos as 'the flower of the Levante' and today, nearly 200 years later, this multi-faceted destination remains among the least developed of the larger Greek islands. The north in particular retains a timeless feel, thanks in part to its more rugged landscape that makes travel a little slower but infinitely more rewarding. There’s beauty and drama in towering cliffs and forest-clad mountains, but also hours of family fun on golden sandy beaches. From sleepy Agios Nikolaos in the north to the vibrant capital Zakynthos Town, you’ll find luxury villas and romantic honeymoon suites in some of the island’s most idyllic locations.
