NEW FOR 2025

The Trapezaki area of Kefalonia has won the hearts of many Simpson Travellers, with its winning combination of high-quality accommodation, peaceful landscapes and beautiful beaches that appeal to all tastes and moods. This sleek new villa brings you all of these benefits in one stylish package, complete with blissful views across forested slopes down to the sparkling blue sea.

It’s an idyllic spot for an escape, encircled by greenery but still with lovely sea views. Comfortable loungers encourage you to linger here, but when the sun is at its height there’s plenty of shade to retreat to. Inside is cool, contemporary and welcoming thanks to tiled floors and tastefully minimalist décor, which works equally well for a family group or a romantic getaway.

Beaches are of course a big part of the Kefalonia holiday experience, and the coastline just below Kefalonia Escape is scalloped by some of our personal favourites. The nearest is Trapezaki, a mix of sand and fine shingle with a popular taverna for those sun-kissed, high summer days when you just want to stay in your swim things till dark. If you’re travelling with children, there’s lots to explore in the rock pools at Agios Thomas, or head for the sandy beach at Lourdas for the full range of facilities from watersports to waterfront dining just a ten-minute drive from the villa.

Densely forested hills dotted with traditional hamlets and a coastline of small, quiet coves make Kefalonia an unspoilt Greek holiday delight. Its northeastern tip shelters picture-perfect Fiskardo, whose 18th-century houses stand proud with their flower-festooned balconies and carved doors. South Kefalonia hosts Argostoli, the vibrant island capital that still has an active fishing fleet alongside its buzzing cafes and restaurants. Come early and you’ll probably spot a loggerhead turtle in the harbour, or stay late and take a stroll down the waterfront promenade. Trapezaki is a little southern secret, with beautiful views over the sea to Zakynthos and up to Mount Ainos, the highest peak on the island. There’s an unspoilt sandy beach here with a single taverna, and if you’re looking for more choice, try Lourdas, a lovely long sandy/shingle beach lined with waterfront cafes and restaurants.
