We know that many Simpson travellers appreciate the combination of comfortable, contemporary accommodation with a traditional village setting, and Casa di Maura fits this bill perfectly. Set high on the cliffs above Spilia Bay, the villa also has spectacular sea views over Skorpios Island, Lefkada and mainland Greece.
The villa is perched on the edge of Spartachori village, which in turn curls around a picturesque natural harbour. A little grander than its neighbours, with a private infinity pool in prime position overlooking the bay, Casa di Maura is nonetheless very much part of the village, a Greek island classic of white-washed houses, flower-filled courtyards and bright blue views. You can wander the narrow streets and enjoy a car-free evening out with a carafe or two of wine in one of the local tavernas, or visit the market for some fresh local produce. There’s a stylish outdoor lounge area by the pool for breakfast in the shade or drinks before dinner, and three of the four bedrooms open directly onto a further large terrace above.
Meganissi is small so nothing is ever too far away. The closest beaches are just five minutes by car, and Vathy village and harbour, used by both leisure craft and working fishing boats, is reachable in ten. For a change of pace, boats to Lefkada sail from the port of Spilia, just a couple of minutes’ drive.

This is our third visit to this wonderful villa in such an amazing spot on the island. We never tire of the fabulous view overlooking the harbour and the mountains of the mainland. Simpson Travel ensured a smooth transfer from the airport to the sea taxi and on to the villa. Maria the rep on the island was excellent and very helpful with everything.
What a beautiful island and a fabulous villa. The views were amazing, the service from all of Simpson's colleagues and suppliers were excellent. We had the best time and will certainly be using Simpson Travel again and have already recommended them to friends.
Our first visit to Meganissi, but hopefully not the last! Casa di Maura is beautiful, well equipped villa with a wonderful view. Simpson’s service, as always, was first class.
The car and ferry transfers were excellent, very speedy and very smooth. The accomodation was of a very high standard and provided all the facilities we wanted and more. The concierge (Maria) was exceptional. She made a range of bookings for us and answered questions whenever needed, including quickly solving the problem when we locked ourselves out. She was so friendly and supportive throughout the whole of our holiday. Can't praise her enough, superb service.
Fabulous villa. Maria has been a star!
We’ve had a fabulous two weeks. We have loved being in the village and enjoyed all the tavernas, especially Lakis. Hiring a boat was great fun. Maria has been incredibly helpful, and we recommend getting her to book your restaurants because you get the best tables! We will miss the views greatly and will surely be back one day. The sunrise is beautiful if you like pink and orange skies! Been a pleasure.
Maria, the rep in Meganissi was excellent. She went above and beyond her duty. Especially when we managed to lock ourselves out of our villa at 10pm one evening. Maria didn’t hesitate to come and let us in and still had a smile on her face! She booked us a fabulous boat trip and made all our restaurant reservations. We can’t thank her enough.
As four ladies of a certain age (mature), we enjoyed the location of the villa in the centre of a charming and picturesque village. So easy to walk to the shops and local tavernas in less than 5 minutes! The locals were so friendly and keen to greet us at every opportunity. The view from the villa is stunning and mesmerising watching the ferries, yachts and catamarans coming and going every day. Maria, our local rep, was simply brilliant. She helped us with our cases at the villa and when a curtain pole fell down it was repaired the same day. Thank you Maria!
This was the first time traveling with Simpson Travel - what a fantastic tour company. From arriving at the airport in Greece to a week later arriving at Birmingham airport we were totally looked after. Maria was an excellent tour rep in Meganissi- very knowledgeable and so friendly . She answered any queries we had and just generally kept in touch to see if we were ok. The Villa was absolutely amazing and had everything you would ever need for your stay. The welcome pack was perfect. We could not recommend Simpson Travel more highly than 10/10. We would love to travel again with them.
There can be few places in the world to match the villa, vista and setting for a holiday. We enjoyed the local tavernas in the villa and down in Vathy. Would recommend to all our friends.
Lovely, peaceful stay at Casa Di Maura. It’s beautifully located on the edge of the village with easy access to a cafe which was great for coffee and evening cocktails with amazing views.
We had a simply brilliant time at Casa di Maura and on Meganissi - it exceeded all expectations. The location of the villa is just perfect with such a short stroll into the village. Great days were spent by the pool continuing the Simpson guest tradition of guessing the number of cars arriving on the car ferry! The view is simply spectacular and the villa had all we needed for a lovely 2 week holiday.
We had a very special holiday in Casa Maura . It has everything you need for relaxing stay . A wonderful sea water pool , comfortable beds and excellent air con , a quick walk to very good restaurants and bars . The view from the villa is of course the icing on the cake ! Every day you have the pleasure of a stunning view and a beautiful sunrise and sunset . The island has enough to ensure a great stay but is not too commercial , the beaches are very good and a day on a boat around the island is a real treat.
An absolutely beautiful villa and a fabulous stay. We could not fault it and would return in a heartbeat. Meganissi is unspoilt, pretty traditional and an absolute gem. We would recommend this to anyone!
As a family of six – all adults – we stayed at Casa di Maura in Spartachori on Meganissi. It was our first visit to the island – having had previous holidays on various Greek Islands – and our favourite to date. The villa was perfect, well equipped and very clean. We arrived to a home-baked cake – a special touch. The village was a delight and it was lovely to be able to walk to various tavernas and to the local beach at Spilia, as well as walking to Spilia Port to rent a boat a couple of times from Michaelis. We would all very much recommend a boat trip as it is easy to navigate around the island, finding quiet beaches and coves to moor up in to swim and fish. The island is easy to drive around and has plenty of beaches to explore both organised (bars and sunbeds) and quiet – in fact, not hard to find a beautiful beach where we were the only ones! Lots of lovely tavernas in the local village and Vathy run by friendly, welcoming people. During our walks to and from the village we greeted and were greeted by many of the local older generation. Simpson Travel was extremely helpful from beginning to end, from answering various questions about Covid paperwork at both ends of the trip, to organising seamless transfers to and from the Island. Rania, our local guide, was very helpful with cars and recommending restaurants and organising our first boat hire. Thank you for a memorable family holiday. I hope we will be back.
Absolutely lovely is all I can say about our week. This was our fifth visit to Spartochori although our first time staying in a villa having previously stayed in a hotel. We all agreed that the villa was far more enjoyable. The facilities are fantastic and the location makes it easy to pop into the village for fresh bread in the morning or for a relaxing lunch or dinner. We made a few trips down to the beach at Spilia but spent most afternoons relaxing around the pool watching the boats and enjoying the views.
Villa is very well built and finished with excellent views and convenient for village and beach. We had an exciting boat trip in a choppy sea – well worth it. Favourite beach was Fanari, very good value for money and very attractive and Lakis was probably our favourite restaurant. A big thank you to Rebecca and her team who were excellent throughout. A very enjoyable stay in a very beautiful location, we would recommend it to everyone.
Rebecca, the rep on the island, was very useful and always contactable. Although we didn’t end up using it, she was very helpful in locating a boat for our use at the last minute. Thanks Rebecca!
It has been a real delight staying here – from the moment of our arrival until our last day. Although this is our fifth visit to Meganissi, it is our first stay in Spartochori with its friendly residents, pretty streets and welcoming tavernas. The owners have been most generous and kind. They have thought of everything needed to make our stay perfect. We have spent many happy hours watching the activity in the port and beyond. The view is wonderful. We have had a magnificent holiday and are sad to leave.
This is the first time using Simpson Travel but will certainly not be the last, they were excellent from the booking process all the way through to our holiday. Rebecca, the local representative, couldn't have been more helpful. Even when we locked ourselves out of the villa, nothing was too much trouble and she resolved the situation quickly and smoothly. She made us feel welcome and it was reassuring to know there was someone local and knowledgeable we could contact if needed.
Meganissi is a very beautiful island and Casa di Maura superbly situated to enjoy the expansive vista of island, sea and mountains. The villa is truly exceptional in location and quality. Spartachori and Vathy both offered a range of bars and restaurants mostly with very good locations for an enjoyable meal by the sea etc. The food itself varied from really good to really terrible so a degree of care in selection is required. The islanders are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Overall a superb location for a holiday especially for adults and older children with sea adventures in mind.
We had an amazing stay. The views from the villa were outstanding and we spent many hours playing games and watching the boats come in and out. We watched many ferries come in and guessing how many cars came off. One of the best days was when we hired a boat and went all round the island – we found many beautiful beaches and caves. Our favourite beach was Fanari where you could rent sun loungers for the day and use their paddleboards and kayak for free. The beach also has a great beach bar. Had a fabulous stay with a lovely friendly welcome by the owner and a cake (which was delicious and devoured very quickly). Thank you for an amazing stay.
Such an interesting island, not only in its shape but its various coves and beaches. We had such fun hiring a boat and cruising round the island. A wonderful feeling to anchor and then swim off the boat in such colourful sea. Endless moments focussing on the view from the balcony…the swallows are a real treat…the mountains moving from one colour to another. Timing the ferry, watching the boats moving in and out of the bay. All a true delight. We’ve been spoilt with the most beautiful sunset on the last evening whilst enjoying drinks on the terrace. Delicious local food in Vathy with a great selection of restaurants on the waterfront. Thursday Greek night at Lakis was an absolute highlight. The perfect spot for a relaxing holiday.
Our third year on Meganissi, but our first here in Casa di Maura. A lovely house with fantastic views – an excellent holiday! We had a good meal at Tsovolas. We’re looking forward to returning next year.
Our first visit to Meganissi and we’ve had a superb time in this beautiful villa. Highlights include being able to walk to a variety of tavernas. Definitively worth hiring a boat for a day – book early as they get hired out very quickly. Rebecca helped us with this. Thank you to Rebecca and her team for a wonderful week – would love to return one day.
Everyone at Simpson Travel ensured the holiday runs smoothly. They are all professional and highly efficient at their job. It’s our second visit to Meganissi and once again Rebecca and Tina ensured our holiday was as good as ever. Continue with your high standards!
Thank you Rebecca for taking such good care of us whilst we were here. We had a wonderful week. We loved renting a boat for the day and exploring all the coves. There are great swimming spots near Thilia island. Thank you, Tina, for the delicious cake!
This is truly a lovely villa, set in the charming village of Spartochori. Watching the sail boats come in and out of the bay was lovely to watch. It was such a relaxing week, the convenience of the restaurant, Lakis, was handy as it was just a 2-minute stroll. Perfect for dinner. Yet again Simpson Travel and the team (Rebecca and Tina) have been outstanding. This is our 4th holiday with Simpson and they never let you down.
End-to-end a great experience – very professional and warm service combined with top quality accommodation and great logistics made it a memorable holiday!
What a fab week – views were stunning, water amazing and the people so friendly. Can’t fault the place except one week is not long enough.
We have had a wonderful week in Meganissi – loved being on the edge of Spartochori – the locals were so friendly and welcoming and it was great to be able to stroll down to Lakis for a wonderful dinner and indeed pick up a pizza for a quick supper. Fanari beach was the teenagers favourite as they made use of the paddleboards and kayak. In Vathy we enjoyed the Rose Garden restaurant and the Boom Boom bar for cocktails. The villa was just perfect and the homemade cake on the first afternoon was such a thoughtful touch. Rebecca and Harris are perfect hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful.
Writing this overlooking the ridiculously beautiful view! Perhaps of everything here, this was the greatest highlight. We had breakfast on the terrace in the morning and supper on the terrace in the evening. We loved watching the colours change throughout the day. The villa is beautifully appointed and the extra treats were great – a large cake on our arrival, little bags of sweets, honey , soap, beeswax location… Of the beaches we visited, the local Spilia Beach was the best. We were totally charmed by Spartochori village – an expected surprise. We didn’t use the car much and got lost more than once! All in all a really lovely holiday on a very beautiful and lesser known Greek island.
We have had a tremendous week in Meganissi. We ate at Lakis twice including Greek night. Plenty of dancing but great fun for the ladies balancing a table on the head is a sight to behold. During the day we were regulars at the beach down the hill – Agrios. Our favourite restaurant was Marinata. It was head and shoulders above the rest, albeit strangely never that busy. We loved it and the people. Nothing disappointed, lovely island and warm people.
Really sad to be leaving Meganissi after two lovely, relaxing weeks in this lovely villa. Spartochori is a lovely, friendly village and actually very pleased we chose it over Vathy. Highly recommend Lakis for authentic food, friendly staff and Greek night. The cocktail bar opposite Tropicana is also great for evening drinks and watching the sun go down over the bay. Also worth getting up early one day and taking the car ferry to Lefkada. We drove to Vasiliki – very warm shallow water with a sandy bottom – great for kids to play bat and ball, etc. Also, windsurfing and paddleboard lessons. Very sad to be leaving but so glad we came.
We have had a fantastic week and love Meganissi. Being in Spartochori is lovely as you are very private in your villa but amongst all the friendly Greek residents and so lovely to be able to talk to so many tavernas and a great mini-market. We hired boats twice a week and fully recommend that. Rebecca was very helpful in every way. The Greek night at Lakis was fun and the food is good and everyone friendly. The villa is perfect – immaculately clean and tidy. Swallows lovely to watch as you sit by the pool. Really loved all the food and drink in our welcome basket and the cake delicious. So thoughtful. Did didn’t really use the car so left it in the car park all week – no problem. We are sad to be leaving but will definitely be coming back. Thank you to the whole team.
We love Meganissi and this week will always be remembers fondly – the beautiful, calming view in particular. The Green night at Lakis was so much fun and we strongly recommend hiring a boat to explore the little beaches around the island. Thank you to the lovely lady who brought the delicious cake on the first morning. Perhaps our favourite part about the island is the friendly atmosphere – but there’s so many things we love it’s hard to choose just one. A beautiful holiday from start to finish – we will definitely recommend Simpson Travel and return. Rebecca and Harris do an outstanding job on the island – thank you for absolutely everything.
This villa is unique. It gives the impression that you are remote by its clever position, but you are 2 minutes away from shops and tavernas so you do not need to drive to Vathy if you don’t want to . We prefer traditional Greek food so we liked Lakis in the town, and Stavros in Vathy. With thanks to Rebecca and Harris.
Well, what can we say? What a magnificent villa and village. Could have spent the week doing nothing but looking at the view… Beautiful home. And was so lovely to meet our lovely Greek owners. Loved all the tavernas we visited in Spartochori and Vathy. Highly recommend boat hire for a day (at least!) from the lovely Andreas under the blue umbrella you can see from the terrace. He and his brothers were helpful and generous. And get him to take you out on his jet-ski – WOW! His family owns Lakis taverna in the villa where do their hilarious and rather fabulous Greek night. But the star of the show was this incredible villa. Absolutely perfect. So many thanks to lovely Rebecca and Harris for all your help. This week has been an utter, utter joy. Thank you.
Sorry to be coming to an end of a most memorable week and feeling lucky to have chosen Meganissi as the first place we have visited in the Ionian. Facilities at the villa have been superb and we have enjoyed the food – especially at Errikos where you get to choose your fish so you know it’s fresh and it certainly had by far the best wine list of any restaurant we visited. Our sincere thanks to Rebecca and Harris for sorting out all our problems – especially the geography! Looking forward to returning in September.
It really can’t get better than this. On Tuesday we found a really nice beach called Fanari beach. On Thursday we hiyed (sic) a boat that was nice and at the end of the day we went to see Greek dancing. A lady balanced a table on her head.
We were very impressed with the villa and always enjoyed coming back ‘home’ to it after a long tiring day at the beach. Just strolling about the villa and checking out the shops is definitely worth it. Rebecca and the team couldn't have been keener to help and gave us excellent eservice. Out of all our villa holidays, and most of them have been in Greece, this was the best!

Local life potters along as it’s done for centuries and there are no bustling resorts on Meganissi, just three flower-filled villages – and yet you’ll still see luxury yachts moored in the harbours. Warmly welcoming, this island is also beautifully unspoilt; its coastline dotted with gleaming white beaches, some accessible only by boat or kayak. Inland, the rolling hills make for wonderful walking country, with shady pine forests and spectacular blue seas beyond.
To complete the picture, we offer a selection of handpicked luxury villas on Meganissi.
